Tribe came into this weekend 3-6 in conference play, and in the bottom third of the CAA. After a 3-game sweep of Old Dominion, our circumstances have certainly improved!
This was a big series for the Tribe, playing against one of the perennial contenders in the CAA. On Friday night, which featured an alumni Oyster Roast before the game, the team rallied back from an early hole to score 5 runs in the 8th inning and win 11-6. Matt Davenport, moving from the bullpen so the starting rotation, picked up win number 6, and the Tribe had a good team effort at the plate, with four different hitters getting two hits apiece.
On Saturday, it was Strike Out ALS Day at Plumeri Park. As part of the event, which was sponsored by Circle K International, a portion of each ticket sale was donated to helping fight ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. A throng of William and Mary students showed up to support the event, and gave the stadium one of its’ larger crowds of the season at over 800 attendees! The game did not disappoint, as we took home the victory 9-5. Matt Wainman claimed the victory, and three different Tribe hitters had two hits, led by Jonathan Slattery’s 3 RBI night.
The series finale Sunday was a great end to a great series. There were a number of promotions for the game, including a cornhole tournament for Tribe students with a top prize of two round trip airline tickets! Of course, the game is what everyone really comes out for, and this one did not disappoint! Tadd Bower led the Tribe hitting with two long home runs into the parking lot, and Slattery hit a walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Tribe a thrilling 7-6 victory! Logan Billbrough got the win after 5.1 innings of solid relief, allowing only one run.
The weekend sweep moves the Tribe to 6-6 in the CAA and 21-14 overall. We have vaulted up to sixth place in the Conference, with a number of critical CAA games left to play! The next Tribe home games are Tuesday and Wednesday against Longwood and VMI, respectively. Do your best to make it out and support our team!

Had a great time at the game on Saturday. As an alum, the Strike Out ALS game is my favorite reason to come back to Williamsburg. Go Tribe!
