The women’s tennis team defeated Boston University in dominant fashion today, winning 6-1 at home. The team moves to 8-9 on the year despite a very strong schedule (10 of our opponents have been ranked in the top 50 in the nation). This is a solid team, as demonstrated by our ever-increasing national rank, which currently sits at #56!
Although 6 of the 7 pairings today ended in Tribe victories, perhaps the most inspiring match was the single loss. Senior Carmen Pop fought through a pulled hamstring that severely limited her side-to-side movement to force the second set of her match to a captivating 22-20 tiebreaker! After her heroic effort, she could barely walk, and anyone who has ever pulled a muscle knows how astounding and courageous her performance was in the match.
The tennis team is led by Senior Ragini Acharya, who plays out of the #1 spot and takes on the toughest opponent from the other team, often setting the tone for the match. It is a strong team, and they would all love your support to help cheer them on! They play the rest of their home games right outside at Busch Courts (alongside the Rec Center), so come on out and cheer on your friends on the tennis team as they represent the Tribe!

Anyone who doesn’t realize that it takes guts to play high-grade tennis should take a look at Carmen Pop. Go, Girl!
